About

State Attorney Bain

State Attorney Bain's life has always been about service to his faith, family, and his community. In addition to serving the Ninth Judicial Circuit as an Assistant State Attorney for over 7 years, he was on the bench as a Judge for over 3 years, he and his wife, Dr. Andrea Singh, have been married for 17 years. Together they have two beautiful daughters. He is also a professor at Florida A&M; College of Law, a mentor to students at all levels and serves on the elder board at his church in Kissimmee. State Attorney Bain is committed to protecting the people of Orange and Osceola Counties, and insuring all are treated equally under the law.

State Attorney Bain grew up in Lauderdale Lakes, FL, right outside Fort Lauderdale. The life of a pastor's son meant Sunday service and church meetings in his home. At one point or another, State Attorney Bain served in every capacity at the church, from leading worship to cutting grass, serving as a handyman and even scrubbing toilets. This taught him some very valuable lessons about being committed to faith, love, and always staying humble.

As a child, he spent most of his time playing sports. His first love was baseball, before moving on to basketball and football over the years. But when it came time to focus on one of the three, State Attorney Bain chose football. In his final year of high school, he was a team captain, All-American, laundry worker for his teammates that did not have a washer machine at home, while he helped lead his football team to win the 5A State Championship in Tallahassee. He also headed an award-winning peer tutoring program for his fellow classmates.

In college, State Attorney Bain joined the University of Miami Hurricanes football team, becoming their master of the "pancake block" as an offensive lineman. When he wasn't on the field, he dove headfirst into his studies and mentoring at risk youth. He majored in Psychology and African American studies and minored in Business Law. State Attorney Bain was a busy man in college, and this is where his interest in the field of law grew more and more.

After his graduation, State Attorney Bain pursued his love of football by signing to the New York Giants as a free agent. Although he loved the game, he knew he wanted to go to law school eventually. After some prayer, thought, and deliberation with his new wife, he knew law school was his calling. He graduated from Florida A&M; University in 2013 and joined the State Attorney's office.

Though State Attorney Bain enjoyed his time as a prosecutor and the experience that he gained, the opportunity to serve on the bench was something that he could not turn down. It was a conversation while volunteering as a county court mediator with the late Donna Dorer, our Court Mediation Program Coordinator for Osceola County, that solidified his plans. She told him she knew he would become a judge someday, and right she was. In 2020, State Attorney Bain was appointed to the Orange County bench, becoming the only African American male judge serving on the county bench since Judge Reginald Whitehead was appointed in 1994. State Attorney Bain, then Judge Bain was elected by the people Orange County in 2022 by recieving almost 64% of the vote.

In August of 2023, State Attorney Bain was called to return to the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. State Attorney Bain stepped down from the Orange County bench, gave up his robe because he saw that the people of his community were left unprotected. State Attorney Bain is the first African American male to serve as State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit and the second to do so in the State of Florida. State Attorney Bain is a servant of the people of Orange and Osceola Counties. His priority is ensuring the public has safer communities through fair and unbiased prosecutions with a focus on violent crimes and gun crimes to hold those who want to harm our community accountable.

He is equally committed to addressing the root causes of crime with a focus on early intervention for youth and adults. Criminal justice is a community issue. He is working with law enforcement and community organizations on evidence-based interventions and preventative education programs to prevent and deter crime. He works with confidence that together we as a community can make a difference.

If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11 NIV
